I decided to try something a little more dramatic this week. Drugs are killing so many people, from the rich and famous, to the middle class, to the poverty stricken. Have you ever watched the show Intervention? They always give a quick update at the end of the show as to how the addict is doing in recovery. I always hope and pray that they are still clean, but sadly, many turn back to their addiction. It's so hard to kick...but it's even harder not to. My happy big-eyed characters will be back next week... I promise :o)
Wonderful Jack, sends a great message. My entry this week is a different blast from the past, it's good to have variety!
ReplyDeleteThis is very haunting. So many things in this world can keep us in slavery.
ReplyDelete(My son Asher left a comment on Mr. Biblehead, so I won't stack the deck there for the giveaway, but it was wonderful-- the perfect answer for this post!)
My daughter's friend just died in the night last night. He left a wife and two kids. He went to sleep and never woke up. He was 28. It was Oxycontin. We have had 7 deaths this year caused by Oxycontin abuse so this really hits home today.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really needed message.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Jack. And k.h., I'm so sorry for your losses, and especially for the loss of a 28 yr old man with a wife and two children. How sad.
ReplyDeletevery nice, jack!...I love the way you rendered the skull.
ReplyDeleteToo true, Jack. It seems to be showing up almost daily either in the paper or on the news. Very well illustrated.
ReplyDeleteVery striking image with a very strong message, I really like your take on the word and I agree that something has too be done I worry so much for my boys when they get older. I've watched a few of those intervention programs and find them very sad, seeing how the whole family are affected and suffer. Very sad indeed.
ReplyDeleteGreat piece though!
You are right that life is not always filled with happy-big-eyed-creatures, and sometimes it is good to stop and think about the other things in life.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, Jack!
Very clever!Love the idea,great work!

WOW this is an incredibly powerful piece, I could see it being used for a huge anti drugs campaign.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate you sharing the reality of the world. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThis illustration is really thought provoking! It makes the connection between drugs and death in a powerful way!
ReplyDeleteHey Jack...sometimes I wonder why He let me live. I kicked a 14 year drug addiction...only through Him. With Him all things are possible...Sarah
ReplyDelete..powerful illustration..great message jack..
ReplyDeleteJack, this is amazing and oh so powerful. A timely message in this world of excess and addictive behaviors. I've watched that show and have been saddened as well by those who tend to fall back into their addictions.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this much needed message.
It's always a pleasure when you stop by my neck of the woods. Thanks for your kind words and God Bless!
AAAAAAH! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I think you are one of the few ones who went for the jugular. Good one! Some of us were thinking about this very topic and immediately thought we had to illustrate something else. HAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteA great graphic Jack!
ReplyDeleteIt packs a punch and hits the mark.
And I have to add, this is a wonderful rendition of a skull!
You can bring it out again at Halloween?
