  1. Hey Jack,' I knew Jack when he wasn't famous' I have been saying all this arvo :)

You know, don't you hate it when people laugh at your work? Well I refuse to laugh at your work - well just a little giggle then....

Heh. What a great idea's brain you have. The way the feet are splayed likefailed duck ballerinas, the look o f emotion on the faces, the wonderful shadows that give us a grounding in reality (err just kiddng about the reality)

    Wonderful work Jack :)

see you happy mother's day to you and y'orne!

  5. Cute one, Jack. One of the great challenges of childhood; mastering those scissors and paper cut outs. I don't know a child who hasn't tried it once.

  9. HA!! My kids will LOVE this one! We've severely limited the screens in our house, really, the only thing left for them is a small amount of ESPN-- maybe little bluebirdy should come over.

Speaking of bluebirds, they're riding bikes over at my place-- must be the Spring air!

  10. Incredibly funny. Wonderful work as usual, Jack. I think sometimes we are all beginners in life. We have a long way to go *:)

  17. You always seem to find a perfect way to illustrate the word of the week. Beginners certainly can experience frustration at time, I know from my own personal "beginner" phase. You nailed this expression of emotion. Your Homer and his lesson are "right on" too. Thanks.

  19. I like the eyebrows :) Great expressions. Thanks for posting on my site. I've been thinking that it doesn't really matter if we always agree, the important thing is that we agree on the important stuff!

  20. I am with Linda, the eyebrows absolutely define this funny illustration. Perfect interpretation once again. I am so impressed with the paper chains, even the beginner one (note: I can't cut paper chains to save my life - or snowflakes for that matter). You've inspired me to tackle this theme. I've been resting my my creative laurels feeling the pinch of beginner's insecurities but you reminded me that God given talents are meant to be used. Also, thanks for the b-day, mother's day wishes and comments on my Bo Peep illo.
