When the actors became too "valuable", the studios started hiring stunt doubles.
Now DreamWorks has begun hiring stunt doubles for their "valuable" animated characters.
What next?? Really... I just wanted an excuse to come up with my own version of Shrek :o)

ReplyDeleteHi Jack!! I thought you'd be great at this one! (I thought you'd do something with twins and double-mint gum!) We love Shrek around here-- the world needs more Shreks.
ReplyDelete(What's with all the numbery comments, anyway? Doubly annoying-- now you really can't delete it or your next comment-ers will think I'm looney-- well, go ahead, maybe I am!!)
I think it is a pretty good excuse...i've been watching a lot of Bonanza this summer and always laugh when the stunt double comes in during a fight scene..."Oh, I'm sorry...I wasn't supposed to notice the guy's haircut change, he grew 5 inches, and put on 40 pounds...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely rendering of Shrek! Nice work Jack! :)
ReplyDeletethe world will have gone really nuts if that were ever to occur! :)
ReplyDeletegreat work Jack, love your version of Shrek, I think I could use a stunt double sometimes just to get a little break from everything :)
ReplyDeleteThat's as good of an excuse as any! ^.^ Love your version of him...er...them!
ReplyDeleteWhat's become of cartoon characters today? Can't even take an anvil on he head any more! Nice Shrek II!
ReplyDeleteHi Jack, it's always very fun your IF !
ReplyDeleteAnd excellent your illustration!
Shrek doesn't do his own stunts? Hmph!
ReplyDeleteVery cool illustration!
Hahaha, great story. The stunt-double looks really like the 'real Shrek'. Great illo!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Like the idea that Shrek is now too precious! Fun as ever, Jack!
ReplyDeleteAh, but wherre es donkeehhh??? Ahahaha! Honestly Jack, every time I see your icon on IF with two huge round eyes, I always wonder what the rest of it looks like. And never disappointed, I might add. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, so you got the beer hat, huh? Heheh, better start drinking, don't want the bat to go thirsty! (hugs)
Now Jack, I hope I don't confuse you too much with my double personality! I could be Mrs. Jekkyl and Hyde for all you know! Hahaa.. Well, thank you for kind, kind words, Mr. Foster. You are quite a personality yourself! (^-^)
ReplyDelete..great illustration,jack..shrek is my all time favourite..love your version..
ReplyDeletegreat stuff....love the concept!
ReplyDeleteAh! Great story! I like your Shrek version, they look very friendly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my blog!
Hurrok Jack :) You know, Shrek is really funny. Now we have two funny shrecks -- umm where am I going with this?
ReplyDeleteNow where :)
Let's start again.
Just love the idea of the stunt doubles. And the idea extrapolated into it's nth degree - the fun of having an animated stunt double, double fun
when do we see some 2d animation? Looking forward to that - that should crack us all up. :) :)
Jack
ReplyDeleteGreat! We love Shrek! Can I borrow one for my house! I could use some help around here!
coninuing to love your work! always makes me smile!

Heather
Great take on Shrek. He fits right into your style!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Love your Shrek! and your story behind it. Great work! :D
ReplyDeleteMe encanta Shrek y por partida doble mucho más jajjajaj
ReplyDeleteHi Jack, Love your Shreks! Thanks for the good wishes and the comment too! You're very sweet!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up, Jack! Really fun take on the topic and I think your Shrek is great!
ReplyDeletehaha...That's a good excuse :D
ReplyDeleteLove how you make the character your own style.
Even cartoons are so spoiled now...they should learn of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck who used to do their own stunts.
Honestly! Oh Shrek, you're "two" much! Hee hee! :o)
ReplyDeleteHi, your shreks are way cuter than the real shrek. (I do know that Shrek is not real, but you know what I mean, right?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
I love your Shreks-- what a great idea! Your bowling alley story made me smile... I miss bowling. The only bowling we do these days is on the Wii. And my 6-year old beats the pants off everyone.
ReplyDeleteThe most adorable Shreks ever, what a thoroughly handsome pair.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty funny Jack. Like your Shreks too. Btw, thank you, thank you for the visit and the nice comment. :D
ReplyDeleteHaha, you almost had me! Great illustration. I love the Shrek films :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckles this week Jack! your shreks have a special look to them. Your own style shines through. I can imagine these two having a song and dance routine somwthing like what a Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly team might have pulled off.
ReplyDeleteJack, my friend, my buddy. This is a wondeful illustration! Love your take on Shrek!! Two are better than one, that's for sure. Truly your Jack style in this great piece..and the concept is fun! It's strange to catch those stunt double look-alikes on old films, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWell I just have to say, THANK YOU so much for your kind, amazing, fantastic, incredibly generous words at my place recently. I am so just speechless about the reaction to the site so far. I really am just tickled pink, honored, and so just blown away by the kindness of my friends out here in blogland. You are a gem. I just wanted to tell you how much it means to me..from the bottom of my heart, I am just so happy and thankful to have discovered your wonderful art, but more importantly become friends with such a genuinely giving person. Thank you, my talented friend...you are just the best. : )
hahahhahhaha! you are hilar Jack! like you need a reason to be silly :D you are a treasure ;)
ReplyDeleteHeya Jack
ReplyDeleteAnime studio sounds excellent, looking forward to seeing your work. I have a free one somewhere old version( ?) but will watch you closely first :) :)
It;s like when you go surfing in big surf - you watch the other guy paddle out, so you know where the hidden rips are :) heh
Stunt doubles? I can't get the picture out of my mind of what Wile E. Coyote's double would look like after a working day :) Thanks as always for making me crack a smile!
ReplyDeleteNice work, I'm melting for those big brown eyes! Mh, still can't decide witch one is the cutest! :D
ReplyDeleteThey look great!
Oh I LOVE your version of Shrek !! Especially the one on the right.. it looks like he's saying "Hey.. who's this guy.. I'm the real one !".. but then..he might be the stunt !! Love it !
