Clumsy IF

I usually like to create new illustrations for the IF topic. But I knew I had this one in my files and thought I'd use it. It is from a story that I illustrated in a magazine called Stories for Children. The story is about a young boy who spends the weekend with his grandparents. The first night he hears someone calling his name from the den. The second night he hears it again. By now he's getting freaked out, but nervously tries to investigate. In his trepidation he clumsily trips over a table outside the den. It turns out, his grandparents were trying to teach a parakeet to say the boy's name as a birthday gift. Even the bird is peeking his head out of the den to check out all the comotion :o)

  20. Hi Jack - I know my comments are popping up scattered around your blog, but I am having so much fun reading. I really like the one about the grandparents teaching the parrot to say the little boy's name. Being a grandparent myself, I can really appreciate and understand the humor in this. Just a little funny humor - my blog is titled Lollipop's Cottage because when my husband and I found out we were going to be grandparents, he decided he wanted to be called Pop. I gave it some thought and really didn't want to be called Nana (because that was my Mom who had passed away) or Grandma because that was my husband's Mom; so, with a little thinking and a little humor, I decided I wanted to be called Lolli. After all what kid wouldn't want to go to LolliPop's House. So, that is where I came up with my blog. I even wrote a picture book about it, that I am polishing up. Isn't it great being a grandparent?
